The Polk School is proud to announce that the New York State Education Board (NYSED) has approved the new curriculum and title change for the MFA in Creative Writing and Publishing (formerly the MFA in Creative Writing). The sweeping changes in the curriculum bring the study of creative writing into a new era, focusing on world literature, hybrid forms, and the practicalities of publishing and the publishing world at the program’s doorstep. In addition, NYSED approved new Certificates in translation and manuscript preparation, which can be taken concurrently, consecutively, or separately from the MFA degree. The program is welcoming nearly twenty MFA and Certificate students in its first class, and aims to build the total number of students to between forty and sixty students in the two-year program. The Co-Directors of the MFA are Robin Hemley and Rita Banerjee.
